The Scots face Canada in a friendly at Easter Road on Wednesday night before taking on Slovenia in a crucial World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park on Sunday.

Rhodes, called-up alongside fellow Wednesday team mates Barry Bannan and Steven Fletcher, hasn't played for his adopted country since coming off the bench in a 6-1 win over Gibraltar a little under two years ago, though he was an unused substitute for the 2-2 draw with Poland in August 2015.

Now, back playing regularly since his move to Hillsborough, initially on loan from Middlesbrough, Rhodes is in with a chance of earning his 14th cap and the opportunity to add to his three international goals.

“Jordan’s now getting a game at club level and seems to be enjoying life at Sheffield Wednesday," said Strachan of the striker who has three goals to his name since making the switch to the Owls. "He’s back in the reckoning and you never know, he might start, he might get 20 minutes.

“He’s running freer, without any pressure. You never know what we might need in a game.”
