Lee, out since last year with a hip problem, hurt his knee early on in his comeback game for the Owls' under-23 side eight days ago.

The 30-year-old is now weeks away from a return to training, manager Jos Luhukay revealed today.

"We must now give him time," the Wednesday boss said. "He is not training yet. When he comes back on to the training pitch, we will review how long he will take.

"It takes another few weeks before he comes back on the training field."

Lee, who has been a key man when fit for the Owls, hasn't played for first team since December after undergoing a hip operation.

He was considered ready for action for the U-23 clash against Colchester United but was withdrawn in the first half of a 2-1 win after being hit by a knee issue unrelated to his previous troubles

"He had to go out after 15 minutes," said Luhukay whose side head to Nottingham Forest tomorrow night bidding to extend their unbeaten Championship run to five matches.

"It's not to connected to the injury or the surgery of a year ago (December 2017)."
