Sheffield Wednesday fans wanted for giant stadium zip wire challenge

Sheffield Wednesday are offering a unique chance for fans to raise vital charity cash.

Owls’ supporters will be able to whizz across one end of Hillsborough stadium on a giant zip wire in aid of the Lee Rigby Foundation.

James Bannan, the father of Wednesday’s midfield maestro Barry, has signed up to the daredevil challenge.

He said: “The club has been so welcoming to Barry and I wanted to give something back.

“I just wanted to do anything I could for charity and this was a great way to do it.”

The giant zip wire is taking place throughout the day on Saturday, April 2.

The zip wire challenge is £20 to enter and participants are encouraged to raise £200 in sponsorship funds before they take to the stadium roof.

The Lee Rigby Foundation was established in memory of soldier Fusilier Lee Rigby. He was tragically murdered on the streets of London back in 2013.

Sheffield Wednesday regularly work with the charity and offer support to Lee’s mother, Lyn.
