They will walk from Weston Park to Hillsborough Stadium to raise money for Sheffield Children Hospital, which is in the process of building a new £40 million wing.

Dato Khan has arranged the walk via his popular Facebook group The Wednesday Sing! and hopes more than 100 people will turn up on Saturday.

Mr Khan said anybody is welcome to attend – including supporters of other clubs – providing they wear blue and white.

People will gather by the gates of Weston Park from 10am before the walk sets off at 11am.

Those attending are asked to make a donation of at least £1, while charity buckets will be collected from local pubs along the way.

Mr Khan, aged 40, of Woodseats, said he hopes the event will raise at least £1,000 for the Children’s Hospital.

“We have been in touch with Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri and he has given us his support and has also pledged to donate to help us reach our target,” he said.

“I have grown up in Sheffield and been an Owl from the age of eight when I went to see my first match, stood on the Kop – back in 1983/84 season.

“I’ve worked for the club for the past three years as a steward on the Kop and know very many fans.

“I do as much as I can for the club, whether it’s charity or sweeping the car parks because it’s very special to me.”
