Ex-England cricketer and Sheffield Wednesday fan Michael Vaughan has taken to social media to thank Sheffield United fans for a 'lovely reception' as he played against the Blades for Sheffield FC last night.

Vaughan's tongue-in-cheek tweet came after he played for FC in Matt Roney's testimonial match and received a predictably hostile reception from the visiting fans.

He shared a video of Blades fans booing him during the match but that didn't stop him from winning a second-half penalty during the match, which was coolly converted by star man Roney.

Chris Wilder fielded a strong side, including new signing Marvin Johnson and the returning Paul Coutts, in United's 11-2 win over the non-league side.

Sheffield FC's team was littered with high profile guest players including Vaughan, Matt Duke, Derek Geary, Rob Kozluk and Michael Brown.
