Fighting broke out between Owls supporters at Pride Park. It was an ugly, unsavoury incident.

Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri said: “I don’t want the fans to be separate. I don’t want the fans to be fighting with each other.”

Speaking at the Supporters Steering Group meeting on Wednesday night, Chansiri has called on the fans to keep turning out in their numbers as the club look to reignite their promotion charge.

The Thai businessman has challenged supporters to get behind the team like they did in the 2015/16 season when the club defied the odds to reach the Championship Play-Off Final.

“We win and lose as a team. Whatever happens at this club is 100 per cent my responsibility.”

As Chansiri was quick to point out, things can change very quickly in football.

Chansiri said: “Our team and everyone works hard. We try.

“I always tell the players to do their best and play with their heart. I only question them if they don’t give 100 per cent.

“They are trying to do their best. They want all the fans to cheer for them after the games. They don’t want the fans to boo them.

“We need to make them feel good, not down. I want the fans to help and support the team.”
