It is believed star defender Tom Lees is attracting the interest of Premier League duo Burnley and Sunderland while forward Fernando Forestieri is reportedly on Newcastle United’s radar.

But Carvalhal has told The Star: “The chairman has been very clear. Even if there is interest, he doesn’t want to sell any players. He doesn’t need money and to sell players.”

Carvalhal is focused on increasing the options at his disposal. He is targeting a minimum of four new faces before the transfer deadline.

It promises to be a busy period as Wednesday kick off their season with a Hillsborough clash against Aston Villa this weekend.

“It will be a very tough game but it will be tough for them [Villa] in our stadium,” said Carvalhal. “We don’t just play with 11. We will probably play with 26 -27,000 fans on our side. I’m absolutely sure the fans will be with us, the energy will be positive and make our team more dynamic.”}
