There are less than three weeks to go until the big kick-off and the Owls’ only acquisitions have so far been goalkeeper Jake Kean from Norwich City and striker Steven Fletcher.

A new centre-back and two left-backs feature high on Wednesday’s summer shopping list and Chansiri has asked for fans to remain calm.

The Thai businessman told The Star: “I understand all the fans want to hear about how many players we are going to sign.

“If they want us to sign normal players, that is easy. We could sign 10 to 20 players immediately but we want to strengthen our team and get better than what we have got.

“We know our strengths and weaknesses.

“We just ask the fans to be patient.”

With the transfer window open until August 31, Chansiri says players are keeping their options open as long as possible.

“Because we still have another couple of months, players are going to wait,” he said. “It is how things work in the football world.

“They want us to wait until the end. It’s normal in business.

“I want to bring players in as fast as I can to gel the team. It’s what I want but it’s quite difficult. We don’t want to waste time. We want them to gel but it is not something we can control.”

As expected, Wednesday completed the signing of Kean yesterday after the 25-year-old had his contract terminated by the Canaries. It is understood Kean has signed a two-year contract and he will provide cover and competition for Keiren Westwood, Joe Wildsmith and Cameron Dawson next season.

Kean, who came through the ranks at Derby County, failed to make a single appearance for the Canaries with John Ruddy and Declan Rudd preferred to him in between the sticks.
