Sheffield Wednesday: David Jones sets sights on '˜good' Owls run

Carlos Carvalhal’s men are lying in 10th position after back-to-back league defeats, a whopping 10 points adrift of second-placed Brighton and Hove Albion after 16 matches.

Nonetheless, defensive midfielder Jones, who grew up supporting the Owls, is confident the side will quickly bounce back from their Derby County and Ipswich Town disappointments.

The former Manchester United trainee told The Star: “We have been doing a lot of good things recently.

“It’s just the results have not gone our way in the last two games. We need to look at what we need to do to be able to see out games. We felt we more than warranted a result against Ipswich. We were on top in the game before they scored their second. No team is going to lie down for you.

“There is not a lot between getting the right result and not in this league. We need to just work on these little things and good habits that we need to add into our game when we aren’t playing well.

“The manager will have us training hard and working on things to get back to winning ways as quick as possible. There are a lot of games in the Championship and you can’t always play free-flowing football. We just want to get a good run going.”

Wednesday were booed off following their late home defeat to Ipswich.

“The fans have got a lot of expectation this season,” said Jones. “If you don’t win games, they are not going to be happy. But since I’ve been at the football club, the fans have been very supportive and supported the team, home and away, in big numbers.”
