The Scotland international was forced off in the 80th minute at Ashton Gate as the Owls secured a second successive win on the road courtesy of a second half double by Lucas Joao.
Bannan was replaced by Joey Pelupessy, with manager Jos Luhukay admitting in his post-match interview that he was worried the 28-year-old could have suffered a recurrence of the knee problem which sidelined him for three months of last season.
But Bannan is confident he could be fit to face high-flying Middlesbrough a week on Friday after the international break.
After Wednesday's hard-fought win at Bristol City, Bannan posted on Twitter: "Great 3 points again today before the break. Groin is ok, nothing too bad. Good rest and back again after this break. Thanks for your support. All in it together."
Bannan has arguably been the Owls' standout performer this season, starting 11 of their 12 Championship outings. The only match Bannan has missed was the West Bromwich Albion draw through suspension, having collected five yellow cards.
