Sheffield Wednesday: Barry Bannan and Steven Fletcher named in Scotland squad to face England

Owls duo Barry Bannan and Steven Fletcher have been included in the Scotland squad ahead of their mouth-watering World Cup qualifier with England next week.

Both midfielder Bannan and striker Fletcher started the Scots’ last match as Gordon Strachan’s side crashed to a 3-0 loss at Slovakia last month.

Bannan and Fletcher have been capped 24 and 30 times by their country respectively.

Scotland lie in fourth position in Group F, trailing leaders England by three points.

Strachan said: “We’re all looking forward to playing England at Wembley. We all feel that, after the last few results, it’s time to start winning again.

“Everyone loves this fixture and we’re the lucky ones who get the chance to participate in this game and put in a good performance.”

The Scots travel to Wembley on Friday, November 11, kick-off 7:45pm.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Keiren Westwood has been selected in the provisional Republic of Ireland squad for their qualifier against Austria while Daniel Pudil has made the cut for the Czech Republic as they gear up to face Norway.
