The 29-year-old, who signed a new two-year Owls contract last May, netted in Kosovo's 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands in the UEFA Nations League on Monday night.

Dutch-based Arber Zeneli opened the scoring in the 50th minute at the newly-renovated Fadil Vokrri Stadium before Nuhiu, an unused substitute in his country's goalless draw against Azerbaijan, claimed the vital second goal with a deflected effort to spark jubilant scenes.

It was Nuhiu's second goal of the campaign and his first since Wednesday's opening-day defeat to Wigan Athletic on August 4.

Victory extended Kosovo's unbeaten run to six matches and the result lifted them to the top of League D Group 3 with four points.

It was two years ago Kosovo were admitted as members of UEFA and subsequently FIFA in following a long campaign during which they faced fierce opposition from Serbia.

Kosovo drew one and lost nine of their matches in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
