Nuhiu was on target when he last represented his country, helping Kosovo claim their first-ever win in a competitive international by beating the Faroe Islands 2-0 last month.
The 29-year-old has found it difficult to produce his best form at club level this season. His only Wednesday goal came in their opening-day defeat at Wigan Athletic - a match which also saw him see red following two bookable offences.

As for Kosovo, who were admitted as members of UEFA and subsequently FIFA in 2016 following a long campaign during which they faced fierce opposition from Serbia, they are currently top of  Nations League D, Group 3.
After entertaining Malta, kick-off 7:45pm, Kosovo travel to the Faroe Islands on Sunday.
Kosovo drew one and lost nine of their matches in the World Cup qualifiers and were held to a goalless draw by Azerbaijan in their opening Nations League fixture.
