Sheffield Wednesday: Ash Baker edges closer to one-match ban

Sheffield Wednesday defender Ash Baker is walking a disciplinary tightrope after picking up his fourth booking of the season in Saturday's superb victory at Aston Villa.

The Wales Under-21 international has been cautioned four times in five Owls appearances this season. His latest yellow card came in the first half at Villa Park when he fouled Alan Hutton.

Baker was also booked against Hull City, Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup.

The former Cardiff City youngster has has joined fellow Wednesday teammate Barry Bannan on four cautions, leaving the pair both just a yellow card away from being hit with one-match suspensions. Baker, preferred to Liam Palmer on the right side of the Owls' defence in the last two fixtures, and midfield maestro Bannan will have to avoid yellow cards up to November 30.

Bannan accrued his fourth booking at home to Stoke City but did not collect yellow cards against Nottingham Forest or his old club Villa.

On Bannan's potential ban, Luhukay told The Star: 'We must not go for the negative side and hope that Barry plays a very good game for us with gets no fifth yellow card and that he can also play the next game.

"But with every game now, you have that risk that Barry is a player who gets a fifth. But we try and think positive."
