Sheffield Wednesday: All you need to know about Owls in the Park 2018

Owls in the Park, the Championship club’s annual community fun day, returns for its sixth year at Hillsborough Park this Sunday.

Thousands of Wednesdayites are expected to attend the event, which runs from 11am to 5.30pm.

Chairman Dejphon Chansiri, manager Jos Luhukay and Wednesday’s first-team players will be attending the fun day, which was switched to September last year to coincide with the Owls’ 150th anniversary celebrations.

Supporters will get a chance to meet and have their photograph taken with Chansiri, Luhukay and the players.

It is also understood Wednesdayites will be able to get their hands on the new home strip for the first time this weekend.

Chansiri said: “The whole team behind Owls in the Park puts in a huge amount of planning and effort over many months to ensure this event goes from strength to strength.

“Owls in the Park is now an established brand in itself, which is testament to how the Wednesday family have embraced this project year on year.

“This Sunday, we can safely say that the engagement factor of this fantastic event will move to the next level and we look forward to welcoming thousands of our fans to join us in Hillsborough Park.”

Two-hundred-and-fifty fans will enjoy the brand new VIP breakfast package in the 1867 Lounge before the main event. The package, which sold out a fortnight ago, consists of an unlimited buffet breakfast, English or continental, and a meet-and-greet with members of the Wednesday squad and Luhukay for a full hour to midday.

A visit pitchside is next before fans walk up the players’ tunnel and into the home dressing room to complete the VIP experience.

The main stage for Owls in the Park will be run by Hallam FM and the players will line up for interviews in three groups, working on a rotation basis.

When group one are on stage, group two will be signing autographs and posing for pictures in the designated signing area adjacent to the Owls marquee.

Group three will be in the Owl’ community hub playing games, featuring football darts and penalty shoot-outs, and engaging with supporters of all ages at the centre of the park.

All three groups will rotate throughout the day but Wednesday have told fans that “the community hub and main stage are not areas for collecting autographs”.

Other attractions feature craft stalls, catering outlets and licensed bars.

There will also be 22 charities, including Support Dogs UK, Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme, in the park with stalls and activities to raise money and awareness.
