Sheffield Wednesday: Adam Reach ready to go to battle against friend Jack Hunt as the Owls gear up for Bristol City test

Right-back Hunt is set to face his old club for the first time since leaving Hillsborough last July.

The 27-year-old joined Bristol City, having spent almost three years at Wednesday.

Reach, who used to travel into training with Hunt, told The Star: "It will be nice to see him. I haven't seen him too much since he moved down to Bristol City but I speak to him every couple of days.

"Jack is enjoying it down there. It was a big move for him and his family. He seems to have settled into the team really well so I'm looking forward to seeing him.

"But I will only speak to him after the game. Before the game, we want to go there and get the win so that's what we will try do."

Hunt was a first-team regular with the Owls, clocking up 108 appearances. He established himself as a key member of the side that reached back-to-back play-offs under Carlos Carvalhal.

"Jack was brilliant here," said four-goal star Reach. "In my first season, I thought he was our player of the season and he just about emulated that in the second year.

"I think he was a player we could have held on to but obviously under the circumstances we were in in the summer (transfer embargo) the chairman thought it was right to sell him which is fine.

"But Jack has shown he's a top, top Championship player. He has just moved to Bristol and seamlessly worked his way into their team and become a pivotal player for them.

"Jack was a brilliant servant for this club. If he was still here, I have no doubt he would still be performing at a high level."

Wednesday head to Ashton Gate aiming to stretch their unbeaten league Championship streak to four matches.

But it promises to be a stern examination of the Owls' promotion credentials, with the Robins lying just outside the play-off berths.

Reach said: "They are a very good side. They are in a similar position to us where they have been putting in good performances but maybe only coming away with draws when they thought they could have got a couple of extra points.

"Obviously, Jack is down there who we all know very well from his time here. I still keep in touch with and ask him how it is going and he says it is going well and they have got a good, hungry, young squad who are trying to get into the play-offs.

"At the minute, they are not firing on all cylinders and it is a place where we can go and bring home the three points."

The Owls slumped to a 4-0 defeat on their last trip to Bristol.

"We went to Bristol City last year and put in a terrible performance and got a hiding really," acknowledged Reach. "We want to make sure that doesn't happen again.

"I don't think it will because we are a lot more disciplined. The players and formation are much more settled in.

"We are a little bit more streetwise about those types of performances but we need to go there and take the positives we have got from the last two games and hopefully try and keep a clean sheet, which we have not done this season, and try to come away with the three points."
