The suspension of a strike at Sheffield’s household waste recycling centres has been extended again to cover the Christmas period.
The five sites across the city will now continue to operate as usual until January 12, council contractor Veolia has confirmed.
Staff at sub-contractor The Green Company walked out in a series of strikes over pay, conditions and alleged bullying earlier this year.
Further talks will now take place with union GMB.
A spokesman for Veolia said: “Veolia and Sheffield City Council are pleased to announce that the household waste recycling centre service will continue to operate as normal until and including Monday January 12 while The Green Company, the subcontractor that runs Sheffield’s five HWRCs and the workforce continue with talks about their dispute.”
