Jim, who drove amphibian vehicles for the Royal Army Service Corps, said: "I am delighted to receive the Légion d’Honneur, it is an amazing honour to receive."

Jim received the medal in recognition of his service on and during the D-Day Invasion campaign of June 1944.

Jim landed on SWORD Beach on D-Day to take up his role as driver and dispatch rider. He acted as a driver for the Ammunition Coy and dispatch rider.

The medal presentation service was followed by the Wreath Laying ceremony in the Memorial Garden, where attendees honoured the memory of the fallen in the World Wars and other conflicts.
