A volunteer who has embarked on a mammoth charity challenge to mark her 30th birthday has become the third Sheffielder to be shortlisted for a Pride of Britain Award.
Shelley Richmond, from Nether Edge, is in the running for the Local Fundraiser of the Year title in the prestigious awards.
Shelley was nominated for her efforts to raise £30,000, for Rotherham-based animal charity Rain Rescue, by taking on 30 different fundraising challenges in her 30th year.
Activities lined up for Shelley include sponsored walks and swims, fun runs and organising charity events.
She is also currently in training for the York Marathon next month, and for a coast-to-coast walk later in the year.
“I was overwhelmed when I found out I’d been shortlisted,” said Shelley. “But also excited for the opportunity to give Rain Rescue some extra exposure.
“A local dressmaker has promised to make me a dog-themed dress to wear to the awards if I’m successful, which could be interesting!”
A short film on Shelley’s efforts has been shown on Calendar News. A judging panel will select regional winners to attend the awards in London in October.
