SHEFFIELD University vice-chancellor Professor Keith Burnett has hailed 2012 as an ‘amazing year’ – saying the institution has been going from strength to strength.
Prof Burnett said being named as the Times Higher Education university of the year had acted as a springboard for many further successes.
He said: “It has been a year of significant achievement across the board for both staff and students.
“We’ve gone on to be top of the Russell Group and top of the Yorkshire and the Humber region in the Times Higher Education student experience survey – and the university’s services are rated the best in the country by an independent students’ satisfaction survey.
“All these accolades respect hard work and talent by all concerned and demonstrate our commitment to strive constantly towards excellence in everything that we do.”
The students’ union was also ranked number one in the UK by the National Student Survey.
The student barometer rated the university as having the highest percentage of students willing to recommend their institution to others at 92 per cent, while there was an award too for best student housing.
