Forty-eight hours after Chris Wilder's side climbed to third in the Championship table following a 4-1 victory over Aston Villa, goals from Oliver Greaves, Jordan Hallam and Jordan Doherty saw Bramall Lane's youngsters record their biggest win of the season so far. Keenan Ferguson, a product of United's pioneering Futures programme, provided the assist for Greaves' opener before Hallam doubled the visitors' advantage having earlier seen a penalty saved by the impressive Ethan Ross.  A slice of good fortune, which came in the shape of a wicked deflection, saw Doherty put the game beyond Colchester's reach despite the best efforts of Ross who also denied Harry Boyes and Simeon Oure with excellent saves.
