The giant 6ft 6in stopper made 33 appearances for United and established himself as a fans' favourite during his loan spell, which was cut short before this afternoon's final league match of the season away at Bristol City.

And before returning to London, the 24-year-old posted a 'farewell' message to fans on Instagram... which ended by teasing fans that he may return, possibly on loan again for the new campaign.

"It’s been an amazing season for me with United," Blackman wrote.

"I’ve had ups and down but I’ve enjoyed every minute of being a Blade. I want to thank the staff, my teammates and massively the fans - loved being apart of this team and involved in the achievements.

"A great learning curve for me as a player. So much more to come from this team and me - who knows what the future holds."
