That's according to a supercomputer's prediction, as the number crunchers at FiveThirtyEight.com reckon the Blades will finish in 5th place in the Championship at the end of the season.

The prediction, based on the results of the first ten matches and a rating system made from data and Soccer Power Index statistics, puts Chris Wilder's side in the play-off places at the end of the campaign along with Leeds, Brentford and Stoke.

It has West Brom at the top of the table on 81 points and Middlesbrough as the second automatically promoted team with 78 points.

The Blades, who are currently fourth in the Championship table, are predicted to reach a tally of 74 points and currently have a 33% chance of reaching the play-offs according to the statistics.

Chris Wilder's side are anticipated to win 21 matches this season and draw 11 with 14 predicted defeats.

The index goes as far as to calculate expected goal difference of +15 and an average number of goals scored and conceded per match, which are 1.5 and 1.1 respectively for United.

So far this season the Blades have won six of their ten league matches and sit on 19 points.
