The launch, which took place at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, was attended by manager Chris Wilder and players including Mark Duffy and Che Adams.

Alpharooms have signed a three year agreement with the League One club and Paul Reeves, United's head of commercial, said: "We have worked hard over the last six months on this new commercial relationship and we are delighted to be partnering with alpharooms.com. This will certainly help them grow their national awareness whilst also creating a link with our own supporter base. We have had a great relationship with outgoing main sponsor John Holland and we express our thanks to them for their support over the last two seasons."

Jacky Bedlow, alpharoom's chief executive, said: "This is an exciting milestone for our fast-growing business. The association with Sheffield United F.C. - with a strong supporter base and a recognised name in the English game - will enhance our brand as we seek to further build alpharooms.com reputation as one of the UK's most reliable and best-known online travel agencies."

The event was hosted by Hallam FM DJ Richie Pearson. United supporters were also invited to the themed road show which took place in the airport's departure lounge.

Steve Gill said: "It's been a pleasure to host this event and to welcome so many fans to the airport. It's an exciting time for the club and for the airport, we were really pleased through our relationship with Flybe to contribute to the prizes on the day with return flights to Faro, one of our new destinations."
