Sheffield United are 4/6 favourites to be the top South Yorkshire club in League One this season but will need to concede points all round, if they are to prevail in the betting for the ‘Season Handicap’ with BetVictor.
League One Season Handicap prices from BetVictor – Selected Prices: United (Scratch) 18/1; Doncaster (+7) 18/1 Barnsley (+10) 18/1 Chesterfield (+16) 18/1.
Doncaster and Barnsley were both relegated from the Championship last season receive seven andten points respectively and would strike as the value against Nigel Clough’s side, especially with BetVictor betting the event to 1⁄4 the odds and four places to each way punters.
Coventry faltered towards the second half of the season and are another that are likely to prove popular, providing that Steven Pressley can find a replacement for the loss of star striker. The Sky Blues have had to sell their best players in the last two transfer windows (Leon Clarke to Wolves in January) however the club receive two players on season long loans from The Cherries and have a young squad that will have learnt from the struggles of last season.
League One Top South Yorkshire Club prices from BetVictor - Sheffield United 4/6, Doncaster 7/2, Barnsley 9/2 and Chesterfield 8/1
The Blades remain 6/1 favourites for the Title based on their excellent second half to last season, but is there price a bit skinny? Doncaster and Barnsley can be backed at 7/2 and 9/2 respectively to be the region’s highest finishing side with preference for the latter with The Tykes making up for the sales of Luke Steele and Chris O’Grady by bringing in Plymouth skipper Conor Hourihane and Cowdenbeath striker Kane Hemmings. Providing manager Danny Wilson bolsters up the defence that leaked, and often haemorrhaged, goals last season, they appeal as excellent value.
In the Championship, both Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham appeal receiving +20 and +28 points on Title favourites Cardiff. West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield and Leeds each receive +22 points in what looks a wide open market and BetVictor 18/1 the field.
Leeds are 13/8 favourites to be the Championship’s ‘Top Yorkshire Club’ despite the upheaval at Elland Road.
