Adams, aged 19, lost his place in Adkins’ starting eleven when he was sent-off against Oldham Athletic earlier this term but made his 23rd appearance of the season at Bloomfield Road.

The former Ilkeston attacker, who recently signed a new long-term contract, is expected to be named in the United squad which hosts Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
