United scheduled the game at their Steelphalt Academy training base to give some of their players out of Wilder's side some game time, with Leon Clarke, Conor Washington, Ben Woodburn, Richard Stearman and Paul Coutts amongst those in action.

And Wilder, ahead of this weekend's trip to The Den, said: 'It's been a good positive week, after a game last weekend against Preston that we had to win twice.

'Everyone in the behind-closed-doors game got 90 minutes '“ we put a really strong side out and it was a competitive game. That was good, and now all the focus turns to Saturday.'

Only Kean Bryan and Jake Wright are expected to be absent from United's squad ahead of the meeting with Neil Harris' men.

'Players are happiest when they play matches and they should be disappointed when they aren't playing,' Wilder added.

'Bury came over and it was a tough game. But everyone came through it OK, they're fit and raring to go and pushing to get into the side '“ and I wouldn't expect any different.'
