Sheffield United supporter treated to trip of lifetime with Blades star

A dedicated Sheffield United fan was given the treat of a lifetime thanks to Blades shirt sponsors.

Luke Slaughter, aged 24, and his father, John, 54, were picked up at their home in Stannington and travelled in style to the ground ahead of the game against Preston North End.

Their treat, organised by John Holland Sales Ltd, was made even more memorable because they shared their journey with Blades star Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

The trio were taken to Bramall Lane in one of the car dealer’s brand new Range Rovers, where they were presented with two home shirts courtesy of the family-run business, based on Meadowhall Road.

Luke, who works as a sous chef at Claremont Private Hospital, won a social media competition run by John Holland Sales Ltd after he received the most likes on Facebook for his statement about Sheffield United.

The Blades season ticket holder said: “When I first realised that Jamal Campbell-Ryce was in the car I was gobsmacked. It was a complete surprise to me.

“It was an amazing experience to be taken to the game in a luxury car alongside a Blades player. It was great to chat to Jamal and it’s not something I am going to forget in a hurry.

“It was a great day topped off by a great result. I’d like to say a massive thank you to John Holland Sales for their superb hospitality and in making this possible.”

Company owner Mark Holland said: “We were delighted to be able to take Luke and his father to game, along with Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

“It’s great to give something back to the club’s supporters and we hope to run more fan competitions.”
