Sheffield United: One thing The Blades must do better in order to secure a play-off berth

Sheffield United must improve their game management at Millwall this weekend or risk wasting an opportunity to reach the top of the Championship table.

Chris Wilder will relay that message to his side after identifying a number of mistakes made during last weekend's victory over Preston North End, which saw Alex Neil's men claw back a 2-0 deficit before David McGoldrick's late winner.

Wilder is a hard task master:

Although Wilder was full of praise for United's determination against Preston, insisting many of their rivals would not have been able to pick themselves "back up off the canvas", he also believed the match exposed several faults which, unless corrected, could prove costly in London.

"You don't have to win a game twice," Wilder said. "Just the once, that will do.

"You don't have to open games up all the time but, to be fair, we're never dull are we."

United climbed to fourth, two points behind leaders Leeds, following McGoldrick's last gasp winner. But with none of the teams above them in the rankings set to meet during the next round of fixtures, they could potentially overhaul Marcelo Bielsa's squad if they prevail at The Den.

Despite acknowledging he will "pick through the bones" of United's display against the visitors from Deepdale, Wilder insisted nothing should deflect from the character his players demonstrated after relinquishing the lead.

"The fact is, the lads came through," he said. "They found a way and that tells you a lot about how they stick together, the type of people they are."

"So full credit for them to that," Wilder added. "It took something, to pick themselves up off the canvas like that, because not everyone would be able to do it.

'They showed good belief in themselves and also in the way we go about things, because they kept going right until the end.

"It might not have been quite the way we would have liked or wanted but they got there in the end. So a huge 'well done' for that. Now we've got to keep it going.

"To end it with three points having recovered from the setback of being pegged back is very pleasing."
