Sheffield United: Marvin Johnson has become a Blade after leaving Middlesbrough

Marvin Johnson has joined Sheffield United on loan, the South Yorkshire club have confirmed, after completing a deadline busting move from Middlesbrough.

The wing-back, one of Chris Wilder's leading targets in the transfer market, had appeared destined to remain on Teesside after Hull City failed in a bid to secure his services.

But United's persistence paid-off when officials at both Bramall Lane and the Riverside Stadium managed to push through a deal before the 5pm cut-off point, although he will be unavailable for selection against Aston Villa tomorrow.

Johnson joins fellow new arrival Conor Washington at United, after the Northern Ireland international arrived on a permanent basis earlier today while Ryan Leonard and Caolan Lavery are heading for Millwall and Bury respectively.
