The 29-year-old is on a season-long loan at the Pirelli Stadium from United after re-joining the Brewers in August and made his return on Saturday, after picking up a knee injury in January.

Burton are three points clear of the Championship drop zone, while United are eight ahead of third-place in League One - meaning the two sides could conceivably swap divisions this season.

And Brayford, asked about his future, told the Burton Mail: "I'm just enjoying this season and, hand on heart, I haven't thought about it really.

"I don't think other people know, who have my future in their hands, so I don't know really.

"I'm really enjoying my time back here and it's been a full circle for me really. I've loved every single minute of it."

Chris Wilder hailed Brayford as the best right back in League One after taking over at United, but the £1.5m man played only four games under him before linking up once more with Nigel Clough at Burton.

"Obviously I've got a contract at Sheffield United so I suppose my future lies with them, really," Brayford added.

"I signed a contract and I've had a great time at Sheffield. I really enjoy the city and it was an opportunity.

"They thought they needed other players in earlier in the season and it was a chance for me to come in and play in the Championship.

"I've got no qualms about that at all - they needed to do what they do and they're flying in the league, so they are justified by their decision. I'm just enjoying my time.

"It's football at the end of the day, anything can happen. I don't really know and I wouldn't like to guess on it."
