Sheffield United: Harry Chapman's up for a long run in FA Cup with Blades

Chris Wilder’s team breezed into tonight’s second round draw after beating their League Two opponents 6-0 at Bramall Lane.

Chapman, signed on a season long loan from Middlesbrough, emerged as a driving force behind what United’s manager described as a “first class” performance and, speaking afterwards, outlined plans to combine reaching the later stages of the competition with a promotion winning campaign.

“We’ve got a good team ethic, a quality set of lads and the talent in the dressing room is unbelievable,” Chapman said. “I think we’ve got it in us to win the league and have a good cup run too. I’m delighted to get the hat-trick because it was the first professional one of my career. But getting through was the most important thing.”

United, semi-finalists in 2014, were beaten 1-0 by Manchester United at the third round stage last year.

“It (the FA Cup) is probably the best competition in England to win,” Chapman added. “Hopefully we can get to the big grounds, like Old Trafford, and then go even further. I watched the Manchester United game on TV. The lads deserved more.”

Chapman, who turned 19 on Friday, will miss Sunday’s League One clash at Chesterfield after being named in the England under-20 squad which travels to South Korea this week. United team mate Louis Reed has also been selected by Young Lions coach Keith Downing.

“It’s a shame I’ll be away but the team will be here when I get back and so I’ll look to impress again,” Chapman said.
