Sheffield United: Duo depart on deadline day

Michael Higdon and Conor Dimaio have left Sheffield United.

The League One club announced this afternoon that both players’ contracts were cancelled by mutual consent following talks with Bramall Lane’s hierarchy.

As The Star predicted a fortnight ago, Dimaio has agreed a short-term deal with United’s neighbours Chesterfield. Higdon, who has also failed to secure a place in manager Nigel Adkins’ starting eleven, will now begin the search for a new team with a return to Scotland being touted as a possibility by some north of the border. Higdon, previously of St Mirren and Motherwell, recently completed a spell on loan with Oldham Athletic.
