Sheffield United: Chris Wilder issues warning to Blades' Championship rivals

Chris Wilder has warned Sheffield United's Championship rivals that his side will not ease up after a storming start to life in the second tier.

United, who stormed to the League One title last season with 100 points, went into the most recent international break third in the Championship after seven wins from 11 games so far.

They trail leaders Cardiff by just four points ahead of Saturday’s home game against Ipswich Town and Wilder insists: “We’ll keep going for it.

“We know what the expectations are but I don’t like to do ‘just’ consolidation. I, we, want to keep pushing on as far as we can and see where it takes us. We’ll just take it on a game by game basis and see what happens.

“That’s what we’ve always done and it’s not going to change now.”

George Baldock will miss the visit of Ipswich with a calf injury, but Kieron Freeman could return after his rib problem. If not, Wilder could deploy Chris Basham at right wing-back or elect to alter his preferred 3-5-2 formation.

“If we need to change the shape, then we will,” Wilder added.

“We’ll do what we think is right. But, as always, the main focus is always on us and how we want to play. That’s what it’s been like all the way through and it’s got us this far.”
