Sheffield United: Blades fans 'either angry or ecstatic' at Bramall Lane, says Rochdale boss Keith Hill

Hill, speaking after Billy Sharp’s late goal cancelled-out Andy Cannon’s opener for the visitors, also issued a scathing attack on folk who think stature and skill are inextricably linked in League One.

Admitting he was “disappointed to only be leaving with a point,” Hill said: “I don’t subscribe to all the politics of football. Who should be winning this game and that game, or they’re a great team and all that stuff. We are a team and we’re a good team at that.”

Rochdale, who like United are still searching for their first win of the new campaign, appeared to be heading for only their second ever win over the hosts before being pegged back with less than 10 minutes remaining.

“We didn’t have to silence the crowd,” Hill, previously of Barnsley, continued. “You know what it’s like, they are either angry or ecstatic here. That’s the way it always is. We just got on with what we were doing.

“Sheffield United have created so many chances in their last couple of matches. They might not have scored them but they’ve created them. I don’t remember them creating anywhere near that number against us.”

Like United, however, Hill conceded Rochdale are still far from the finished article.

“Performances will turn into points,” he said. “We’ve had three good performances. I’m not looking at anything other than the performances.”
