Sheffield United: Blades boss Chris Wilder praises his side's ruthless attitude after Leyton Orient FA Cup rout

Their momentum is growing week by week - and Chris Wilder has warned Sheffield United's rivals that they are in no mood to give it up without a real fight.

United are unbeaten in their last 11 league matches, a run stretching back to August, and reached the second round of the FA Cup on Sunday with a clinical 6-0 demolition of sorry visitors Leyton Orient.

And Wilder, who watched loan star Harry Chapman walk off with the matchball after a brilliant second-half hat-trick, was full of praise for his side’s attitude.

“It was first class,” he said.

“So was the play at the end of the game. But you don’t get that if the first two aren’t there.

“We want to get through in this competition and be involved in January. That’s the aim.

“There’s a real thirst among the group be win games of football.

“When you see that, you know we are making strides forward. Now we just have to keep trying to drive it on.”

“Harry did well, he took his goals well,” Wilder added.

“He’s had to wait, as we all know, but a lot of that is down to the change of formation. It’s made it more difficult for him to get in but he’s worked hard.

“Stefan Scougall is the same. They’re good players and important for us. Harry has been first class in training, he was all week.

“I think he maybe got a sniff that he would be playing in this one.”

Wilder, who gave teenage goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale his senior United debut, also blooded youngsters David Brooks and Ben Whiteman towards the end of the game at Bramall Lane.

“It was good to see the young lads get out there on the pitch. But I thought the senior players involved were excellent too,” Wilder added.

“Their attitude was good.

“I had a little bit of a go at the fourth official in the second half because it started to get reckless.

“They were going in. It wasn’t our fault that we were 3-0 up but we stood up to it well.

“It was a back-handed compliment, I suppose.”

Chapman and Blades teammate Louis Reed jetted off to South Korea yesterday for England U20 duty. The duo - along with Ramsdale, who is with the England U19 squad - miss tomorrow night’s Checkatrade Trophy game at Grimsby Town.
