Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is appealing for charity sponsors after being 'locked up' ... all in aid of local charity, Bluebell Wood.

The Blades gaffer agreed to take part in a 'Jail and Bail' event to support the Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, which offers care and support to local children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions, both in their own homes and at their hospice in North Anston.

Speaking from his cell, Wilder said: "I arrived at Bluebell Wood this morning to discover I was charged with a range of crimes! With my other inmates, I was taken to Hellaby where our charges were read out by a magistrate and, wearing our prison uniforms, we will be sent to our cells! I am seeking sponsorship o help secure my release."

Bluebell Wood is one of United's nominated charities. Neale Clark, who donated to the cause, said: "Well done Chris! You have my utmost respect for the way you and your staff support the community and way you motivate all around you to achieve success."

And Laurence Abel added: "Great cause Chris - well done. Just make sure you are released in time to get us back in the top six on Saturday! Up the Blades."
