Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder says Sunderland have not made an approach for his services, despite reports they view him as a potential candidate for the vacant manager's position at the Stadium of Light.

Wilder's long-term future at Bramall Lane has been the subject of intense speculation since his comments about United's ownership issues last week.

Sunderland's new owners, whose takeover is set to be ratified by the EFL, are understood to have included Wilder on a shortlist of names following Chris Coleman's recent departure.

Wilder, speaking at the Steelphalt Academy this morning, confirmed United have not been contacted by the Wearsiders but again refused to retract his call for HRH Prince Abdullah and Kevin McCabe to resolve their differences quickly.

"I won't retract anything I said," Wilder told the media. "I'm just being honest and open about what's happening. I always will be."

United play their final match of the Championship season at Bristol City on Sunday.

Wilder, who is contracted to United for another two years, delivered the League One title during his first season at Bramall Lane. Despite possessing one of the smallest budgets in the division, his squad reached the top of the table in November and entered their meeting with Preston still boasting a mathematical chance of qualifying for the play-offs.
