New figures being reported this evening suggest trains in Sheffield are among the most overcrowded in the country.

One in ten rail users could not get a seat on a peak-time train in Sheffield in 2015, according to figures reported by ITV tonight.

The figures cover all services to and from stations in major cities and were taken on a typical autumn weekday.

Neighbouring Leeds was also poorly rated, third behind London and Birmingham for overcrowding.
