Sheffield to host transgender remembrance ‘minute of noise’

Have your say

A candlelit vigil, poetry and a minute’s noise will be held in Sheffield city centre to remember transgender people who have been killed around the world.

The event, which is being held to mark International Transgender Day of Remembrance, takes place in the Peace Gardens on Thursday, from 6pm.

Nell Stockton, transgender representative for group LGBT Sheffield, said: “The ‘minute’s noise’ will be a symbolic outcry against the continuing prejudice, discrimination, abuse and violence which transgender people suffer from.”
