The 31-year-old will be making his first home appearance for the Tigers since departing the club at the end of the 2013 campaign as they take on the Lions in the second leg of their inter-league challenge. Hall returns after a nightmare two years, arriving for his eighth season with the club on a mere 4.04 average.

Despite his troubles, he is back hungrier than ever. “I’m using this year to try and rebuild my career and I’m hoping being back at Sheffield can allow me to do that,” Hall said. “I’m coming back with a point to prove to a lot of people. Damien (Bates) has put a lot of faith in me, and I’m desperate to show people what I can do.

“I don’t really know what went wrong last year, I seemed to start the season well but then I had a dip and I just couldn’t seem to get myself going again. I think being back at Sheffield can give me the boost I need to get back to my old self and remind everyone what I’m capable of.

“Sheffield is like a home to me, I’ve got a lot to repay to the management for the faith I’ve shown in me and I’m desperate to do that. Owlerton is a track I always enjoy, so hopefully having that as my home track again can reignite my career. If I can have some good home meetings it should boost my confidence and help me score points away as well.”

Hall added: “I just want to try and increase my average, get back to where I used to be and play my part for the team so that’s the aim.”
