An employee at sweet provider Mondelēz International has been awarded £10,000 to donate to charity.

Julie Mason, the leadership team coordinator at the company’s factory in Owlerton, was awarded the money by The Cadbury Foundation.

Julie has donated the money to The Burton Street Foundation, in Hillsborough, that supports adults and older children with learning and physical disabilities.

The money will help develop an independent living training suite, including an indoor park and soft play area and a creative space for artists and entrepreneurs.

Julie, who is one of six employees nationwide to be given the money for a cause of their choice, said: “Supporting employees’ passions in the local community is really important to us and the charity we have chosen to support is a great example of this.

“The money will enable the charity to provide essential space and support for recreational, cultural and social activities. I’m so pleased to be able to donate this money to an organisation which will help individuals lead a more independent life.”
