So says the club’s new assistant coach Jerry Andersson, a long time admirer of Swedish giants HV71

“They are a young side, very skilled and very quick” said Steelers’ own Swede, who lives just an hour away from HV71’s rink. “When you go to the Kinnarps Arena you have to be very prepared because they will be. Their team has lots of speed and skill, very fast breakouts”

HV71 is also known for developing many of their own stars.

“They have some fabulous players” said Andersson, naming Mattias Tedenby and Martin Tornberg in particular.

“They have recently signed Christffer Persson from Frolunda, he will have played against the Steelers in both games last season. He is a very strong player with five years experience in the SHL (238 games) - lots of quality and lots of star players.”

Steelers new Swedish signing Markus Nilsson will be in Sheffield today.

Coach Paul Thompson said “Markus had a trip planned to London before he signed for us so he is taking the opportunity to catch the train to Sheffield and have a look around his new home.”
