Sheffield Steelers’ recent signing is certainly a newsworthy addition to the squad – he’s a quiz question waiting to happen.

For a start, at 40 years of age, he is the oldest player Steelers have signed.

And while he joined an English team, he has only played on the road so far...and in different countries, facing Belfast Giants, Fife Flyers and Cardiff Devils.

Stromberg was bitterly disappointed at being dropped before what would have been his home debut in the 5-4 win over Nottingham Panthers at the Arena last Saturday.

He had to settle for a place on the sidelines as Steelers collected two points.

With fellow-import Tyler Mosienko hurt in that game, there opened up a team vacancy the following night in South Wales, icing in the 7-3 collapse.

It means that the Swedish play-maker has performed in three wins and a loss, collecting one point on his travels.

Stromberg will be hoping to make his English debut in Wednesday’s Challenge Cup quarter-final second leg at the iceSheffield facility

Mosienko is unlikely to play with a knee injury - with Rob Dowd certain to miss out with a similar problem.

Guillaume Desbiens (middle body) and Levi Nelson (flu) are expected to be available to protect and improve on the 4-2 first leg lead.

Goaltending will continue to be of interest to home fans - Marek Pinc, while being left unprotected in spells in the loss at Cardiff, didn’t have his best night and supporters still have mixed views over his suitability.

Penalty killing will have to improve, too, with Sheffield conceding four power play goals in the principality.

Fife showed they have a determined squad, they took Manchester Storm to penalty shots on the road last Sunday, eventually winning 7-6.
