Coach Paul Thompson wants to retain the services of Swedish forward Fredrik Vestberg and Canadian defenceman Jace Coyle.

The players have one thing in common - they have domestic and family obligations in their homelands that they need to address before they can consider new contracts at the championship club.

In an ideal world Thompson, who returns from a fact-finding trip to America soon, will learn of their availability or otherwise, within the next week.

Re-hiring 33-year-old Vestberg, if he can solve family challenges, is a no-brainer. He was voted both Players Player of the Year and Coaches Player of the Year at the end of the 2015-16 campaign, his first with the club.

Jace Coyle, 25, grew in importance to the team as his first season with the champions wore on - his fast skating, high-energy offensive talent memorably delivering a goal and three assists against Coventry in the all-important Elite League run-in.
