Club veterans jason Hewitt and skipper Jonathan Phillips were amongst the scorers.

Giants made the better start and went two up through Craig Peacock and Darryl Lloyd, but Steelers hit back with goals from Phillips, Guillaume Desbiens, Tyler Mosienko and Hewitt, the latter an empty net goal with one second remaining.

Steelers need to maintain their win-rate tomorrow at Coventry Blaze, who beat them twice, last weekend.

Elsewhere, Joey Martin fired a hat-trick as Cardiff Devils maintained their stranglehold at the top of the Elite League table with a 5-2 win at Coventry Blaze.

Centre Martin cancelled out Tomas Kurka's first-period opener for the Blaze, who then opened up a two-goal lead through Brett Robinson and James Jorgensen in the second period.

But Devils struck three times without reply in the third period with Jake Morissette and Martin, twice more, both on target.

Nottingham Panthers beat Braehead Clan 5-3 to leapfrog the Scottish side into third place.

Clan raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of Scott Pitt and Alex Leavitt before Logan MacMillan, Andy Bohmbach and David Clarke's double put Panthers in control at 4-2.

Leavitt reduced the arrears with his second, but Panthers' Bohmbach completed the scoring.

Fife Flyers made it a miserable night for Scottish rivals and bottom club Edinburgh Capitals by thrashing them 8-1.

Kyle Haines, Shayne Stockton, Michael Dorr, Justin Fox, Patrick Cullen, Danny Stewart and Nico Sacchetti put the Flyers out of sight and after Taylor Dicken scored a consolation for Capitals, Dorr added his second.

Mathew Sisca's hat-trick and further goals from David Phillips and Devin Didiomete secured Manchester Storm a 5-2 victory against Dundee Stars, who replied through Justin Faryna and Brett Switzer.
