The hard-riding youngster was a firm favourite with Rockets fans and is now a big hit with Sheffield supporters.

He said: “Rye House are my former club so it will be good to ride against them, I’m looking forward to it.

“But I just want to go out and enjoy myself, I’m done with putting pressure on myself with targets, I just want to enjoy my Speedway.

“It would be good for us to start our Premier League campaign with three points on the board and that’s what we’ll be going for on Thursday.

“As long as everyone has a good, safe meeting and nobody goes away in an ambulance then that’s fine by me.

“Everyone loves coming to this track and it’s easy to see why. Hopefully we will have a good result on Wednesday.”

Garrity has also paid tribute to the team after reaching the League Cup semi-finals with a home win over Ipswich last week.

“Ipswich are a good team and there was some good racing,” he said.

“It was nice for us to win on Thursday so we were sorted for a place in the semi-finals.

“Simon Stead and me didn’t have the best of nights, but it’s good to see the rest of the lads doing well and make up for us to an extent.

“It’s good to be riding with this team and I’m delighted to be a part of this club, they have good fans and the management are top notch with us too.”
