An ambulance was called to treat a spectator at the side of Jenkin Road in Wincobank this afternoon as crowds gathered for the arrival of the Tour de France pelaton.

A man was seen with his face covered in blood and police were at the scene.

Poilce said the man was taken to hospital for treatment but added his injuries were not life-threatening.

They said their inquiries into the incident were continuing.
