Owlthorpe Local and Natural History Group has been working with Sheffield Council and the Sheffield Landscape Trust to restore the stretch of dry stone wall which runs alongside a natural history trail close to the centre. The project came to a halt when funding ran out but a £2,000 donation from the Crystal Peaks shopping centre will bring work to a successful conclusion.

And a team of six volunteers from the centre will be taking part in the final phase of work on the wall in June.

“A major part of the Crystal Peaks ethos is support for the wider community,” said Centre Manager Lee Greenwood.

“We were delighted that we were able to help this important project, not just financially but also practically and we look forward to seeing the wall completed.

“Along with our ongoing support for the clearance and maintenance of the nearby Ochre Dike, this project demonstrates our strong belief in the importance of environmental issues.”
