Veterans’ charity Help for Heroes is opening its first shop in the north of England in Sheffield today.

The outlet, which is situated in The Arcade of shopping centre Meadowhall, will be declared open for business at 10am.

The Help for Heroes’ store is the third in the UK and goes against the usual charity shop trend by selling new, branded merchandise.

All of the profits from the sale of items - which range from clothing to cooking utensils - recovery centres such as at Phoenix House in Catterick, North Yorkshire, which helps Armed Forces members who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country.

A former soldier who has been helped by the charity will attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
